Summer Camp 2022

California Area School District teachers and administrators will offer summer camps for students on campus. The details for each summer camp are listed below for the registration. Summer camp runs from 9:00 - 12:00 and are limited to 25 students per camp. There is no cost for the summer camps due to grant funding. Summer Camp registration will open Friday, March 25, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. and is first-come first-serve for registration.

 

Title: Reading Exploration

Dates: May 30, 2022 – June 10, 2022

Age Range: Just finished Kindergarten to just finished 3rd grade

Teacher: Mrs. Matis

Description: Each day we are going to explore a new world through reading. We will then complete activities based on the stories we've read. Activities include creating a craft, making a related snack, and reading.

 

Title: Rise and Shine Outdoors

Dates: May 31, 2022 – June 11, 2022

Age Range: Ages 12-16

Teacher: Mr. Dillow

Description: Students will have an introduction to the outdoors following Project Wild Curriculum, and American Wilderness Leadership School. The students will also spend time writing daily journals and reflections to the outdoors. The students will also have an outdoor novel to read during this time and will reflect daily in groups to discuss the novel, outdoors, and journals.

 

Title: Coding Drones

Dates: June 1, 2022 – June 3, 2022

Age Range: Ages 5-18

Teacher: Dr. Jacob

Description: Campers will build and learn how to program their own drones. These light, indoor drones do not require the FCC regulations and will allow for flexibility for campers to code and fly both indoors and outdoors.

 

Title: Beginner 3D Printing

Dates: June 6, 2022 – June 10, 2022

Age Range: Students entering grades 4-12

Teacher: Dr. Jacob

Description: This camp will teach students how to create, download, and print using a 3D printer. Students will learn about different types of filament, how to create 3D models for 3D printing, best practices using a 3D printer, and troubleshooting using a 3D printer.

 

Title: Four-legged Friends!

Dates: June 13, 2022 - June 16, 2022

Age Range: Grades 4-9

Teacher: Mr. Pollock

Description: Thinking about being a pet owner? This summer camp will teach you some of the basics of being a pet owner. We will work primarily around dog and cat ownership. We will review teaching your pet basic obedience and commands using a licensed Therapy Dog. We will also be performing community service at a local animal rescue/shelter.

 

Title: STEM Camp

Dates: June 13, 2022 – June 17, 2022

Age Range: Grades 1-6

Teacher: Miss Nagy

Description: Students will participate in a variety of STEM activities designed in an inquiry based, hands on, experiential learning model.

 

Title: Entrepreneurship- Shark Tank

Dates: July 11, 2022 – July 15, 2022

Age Range: Ages 9-12

Teacher: Mrs. Bebout

Description: Modeled after the popular TV show, students will develop a business plan, create a physical model or example of the idea and create a presentation and present it to the "sharks" or judges to see if their idea will get funded!

 

Title: Parlez-Vous Français?

Dates: July 18, 2022 – July 22, 2022

Age Range: Ages 8-18

Teacher: Dr. Jacob

Description: Campers will learn the language and culture of the French. Campers will engage with language learning, art experiences, field trips, and food. C’est très magnifique!

 

Title: Cooking Camp!
Dates: July 25, 2022 – July 29, 2022
Age Range: Grades 1-5
Teacher: Ms. Kocher
Description: Students will explore the fun and excitement of cooking and baking items from Chocolate Chip Cookies, homemade salsa, and brownies from scratch. Kitchen safety procedures and best practices will be taught.
