Gifted Education
Children who are identified as gifted require instruction and support that is matched to their unique abilities and needs. Specially designed instruction for the gifted can take various forms both within and outside of the general education classroom. Through collaboration between the school, the parents, and the child, we strive to develop instruction that will challenge all learners at an appropriate level. The California Area School District provides enrichment opportunities related to curricular content for students in the classroom setting via materials, alternative assignments, and/or "honors'' classes. Students in grade K-12 participate in competitions locally and at the state level. Additionally, students receiving gifted services are provided with enrichment opportunities via gifted instructors regularly within their weekly schedule.
