Mr. Sears has served in public education for 24 years following his retirement from 18 years of active service as an officer in the U.S. Navy. He started his education career in 1994 in the Baldwin-Whitehall School District, first as a sixth grade science teacher at J.E. Harrison Middle School, then as a vice principal at the same school. In 2006 he became principal at California Area Elementary School and served in that capacity for 10 years. He is now the Superintendent of Schools for the California Area School District. Mr. Sears holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Auburn University and a Master of Science in Education degree from Old Dominion University. He received his principal and superintendent certifications from California University of Pennsylvania. His vision for the California Area School District is for all students to realize their full learning potential through a comprehensive and challenging academic program.
