California Area Middle/High School
Small School. Big Impact.
Welcome to California Area Middle/High School, a close-knit public school located in
Coal Center, Pennsylvania.
Serving students in grades 7–12, California Area Middle/High School is dedicated to providing a supportive, student-centered learning environment where every student is known, valued, and supported. As a combined middle and high school, we begin preparing students as early as 7th grade for life after graduation, with a strong emphasis on social-emotional development, academic excellence, and college and career readiness.
Our students benefit from rigorous academic opportunities, including more than two dozen Advanced Placement (AP) and College in the High School courses, allowing them to earn college credits while still in high school and gain a competitive advantage for their future.
California Area Middle/High School also offers strong career exploration and technical pathways through multiple Career and Technical Center (CTC) programs, including Veterinary Technician, General Education, Homeland Security, Travel & Tourism, and RV Technician. These programs provide students with hands-on learning experiences and industry-relevant skills that prepare them for both college and the workforce.
In addition to strong academics, students have access to enriching extracurricular activities, athletics, and leadership opportunities that help them grow both inside and outside the classroom.
At California Area Middle/High School, our small school environment creates a big impact, allowing us to build meaningful relationships, support the whole child, and prepare every student for success in college, career, and life.
